Getting started
How do I add a city?
Click the WorkClock Orange icon in your toolbar, then Add. Type part of a city or country name and pick it from the results. The city is saved to your browser automatically.
How do I change which city is "my" time?
Your own zone is the one your computer is set to. To pin the popup to a different zone, set that city's hours on the options page and treat it as the reference. Chrome's own time zone setting lives in your operating system's settings, not in the extension.
How do I set working hours for a city?
Open the options page from the popup, find the city under Locations, and set its start and end time. Each city keeps its own schedule, so you can model a part-time colleague or a team in another region.
What do the coloured dots mean?
Green means the city is currently inside its working hours. Grey means it is not, typically because it is outside those hours or the day is a weekend when weekday-only hours are set.
How do I get the 24-hour view?
Click a saved city in the popup. Its full day expands underneath, laid against your own, with working hours shaded so the workable window is easy to spot. Click it again to collapse.
Can I change the theme or the accent colour?
Yes, on the options page. Theme can follow the system or be forced to light or dark, and there are eleven accent colours. Changes apply to the popup immediately.
Which languages are supported?
English, Spanish and Portuguese. Set it on the options page.
Privacy questions
Does the extension send anything to a server?
No. It makes no network requests at all. Everything you enter is stored locally in your browser. See the privacy policy for the specifics, including exactly which data is stored and why each permission is needed.
Can it see the pages I visit?
No. The extension requests no host permissions and has no ability to read or alter web page content.
How do I delete everything it stores?
Uninstall the extension, or visit chrome://extensions,
find WorkClock Orange, and clear its storage. Uninstalling removes
all saved cities and preferences.
Troubleshooting
The icon is not in my toolbar
Chrome sometimes hides new extensions behind the extensions menu. Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and pin WorkClock Orange.
A city shows the wrong time
Usually this means your computer's time zone is set incorrectly. Check that first. If your computer's zone is right and a city is still wrong, please report it with the city name.
The toolbar badge looks stale
The badge refreshes on a timer to avoid running constantly. If it seems behind, opening the popup recalculates everything immediately.
Can I use it on Firefox or Safari?
The extension is built for Chrome and published in the Chrome Web Store. It uses Chrome extension APIs, so it will not run in other browsers as-is.
Reporting a problem
Please include:
- Your Chrome version.
- What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
- The city names involved, if the problem relates to times.
- A screenshot, if it helps.
Send it to alex@spelucin.pro. Since the source is open, bug reports that come with a fix are especially welcome.
